Our sessions are run by parents, whether teaching a subject they love, assisting with activities, or mentoring during project time. Our community thrives because every adult plays a part in making learning meaningful.
This season, we're beginning with a deep dive into media literacy—helping kids understand the messages all around them and how to think critically about the media they see, hear, and use every day. We connect big ideas to real-world skills and meaningful questions.
Each week at the Walt Westrich Community Center, we'll explore topics like visual storytelling, audio production, advertising, online safety, and more—all tailored for mixed ages and collaborative learning.
Brenna has been homeschooling her three children for two years. She's passionate about helping kids uncover their interests and guiding them as they grow. As the founder of Curiosity Crew, she brings a love of civic engagement and a gift for connecting ideas to the real world.
Sheena has homeschooled her two sons for three years and leads a Math Circle at the Oxford Lane Library. With a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Miami University and over a decade of experience as a software engineer, she brings both logic and creativity to our lessons.
We're always looking for curious, caring parents to join our team. Whether you love science, art, engineering, or something else entirely, there's a place for your passion here. Interested? Email us at curiositycrewohio@gmail.com.
We launched Curiosity Crew because we couldn't find the community that blended collaboration, creativity, and deep learning the way we hoped for. So we built it for our children and for families looking for the same thing.
Curious about joining Curiosity Crew Ohio? We're hosting a casual interest meeting at the Walt Westrich Community Center in June for families who want to learn more about our co-op, meet other parents, and explore our current media literacy theme. Come see how we mix curiosity, collaboration, and community-based learning in a welcoming, hands-on environment. Kids are Welcome!
We're kicking off our media literacy season with an exciting, hands-on first session designed to spark curiosity and get kids thinking about the messages all around them. We'll start with fun group activities to explore what media is, go on a local media scavenger hunt, and build our own class definition of media together.
